Dance classes help to aid the development of a child’s self esteem and confidence. They also establish the development of coordination, balance, flexibility, and muscle integrity.

Dance Classes Available:
Preschool 1 (ages 3-4) & Preschool 2 (ages 4-5) - classes held weekly, 45 minutes per class. Students will mainly be instructed in tap or acrobatics, with an introduction to ballet and creative movement. Students will perform 1 routine in the annual recital.
Kindergarten (ages 5-6) - Classes will be held weekly, 45 minutes per class. Students will be instructed in tap or acrobatics at a more advanced level and pace, while they continue to get an appreciation for ballet and creative movement. Students will perform 1 routine in the annual recital.
Combination Classes (Ballet/Tap Combo, or Ballet/Acrobatics Combo, Ages 6 and up) - Classes will be held weekly for 1 hour. Class instruction will be ½ hour of ballet and ½ hour of tap, or ½ hour of ballet and ½ hour of acrobatics. Students will perform 2 routines in the annual recital.
Combination Classes- (Jazz & Tap) - students must be 8 years of age to take jazz. Classes will be held weekly for 1 hour. Class instruction will be ½ hour of jazz, and ½ hour of tap. Students will perform 2 routines in the annual recital.
Single Subject Classes- (45 minutes), are required as students advance and mature. Classes are assigned according to ability and number of years of dance education. Classes are available in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acrobatics, and Lyrical. Students will perform 1 routine per subject in the annual recital.
Adult Classes - are scheduled according to enrollment.
Dance Types
Ballet - Ballet is the basis for all forms of dance. It develops poise and grace as well as flexibility and control. Class includes a ballet barre, muscle warm-up and stretch, technique, body placement, balance work, turns, leaps and dance combinations.
Pointe - Pointe is a continuation of ballet, available to dancers 12 years of age who have been studying ballet for at least 5 years. Pointe students must be very disciplined and exhibit a strong ballet technique. The foot development (arch) of the student must also be considered as a student with little or no arch would not be able to properly support and balance the body. Pointe class is at the discretion of the teacher.
Tap - Tap class helps to develop rhythm and coordination. Class includes a tap warm-up, tap technique, rhythmic work, turns and dance combinations.
Acrobatics - Acrobatic class is a progression of the basic tumbling skills. Class includes a warm-up and muscle stretch, flexibility and endurance exercises, balance work, running tumbling sequences. Through the years students will progress from the simplest tumbling elements to advance aerial work.
Jazz - Jazz is a free style dance involving strength and technique through isolated movements. Class includes a jazz barre, muscle warm-up and stretch, technique, isolations, turns, leaps and dance combinations. Hip hop, Funk, Rock, and Character are all forms of jazz dancing.
Lyrical - Lyrical dance is a combination of Ballet and Jazz, available only to students with a strong background in both. This type of dance expresses the musical intent of the song through the emotional execution of the body. Class is at the discretion
of the teacher.
STUDIO POLICY
Please take a moment and acquaint yourself with the policies listed below. These must be followed at all times and are intended to guarantee that every student is given the opportunity to advance and master the art of dance.
1. All students are required to have proper dance attire. Leotard and tights of any color are acceptable. NO SHIRTS, SWEATSHIRTS, OR SHORTS ALLOWED.
2. All students are to have the appropriate dance footwear necessary. All shoes are to be clearly marked with the student’s name. Please check with the teacher for the style of shoes needed for each class.
3. All students are to have their hair up and securely fastened for dance class.
4. All classes start on time. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to prepare for your scheduled class.
5. No dangling jewelry allowed.
6. No gum chewing, food or smoking allowed in the studio.
7. Regular attendance is expected. Although some absences are unavoidable, it is important that students attend the scheduled classes. Students that are frequently absent will fall behind the class work and then have a more difficult time keeping up with the class. ANY STUDENT PLANNING TO PARTICIPATE IN OUR ANNUAL RECITAL MUST HAVE REGULAR ATTENDANCE THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE YEAR.
8. Classes will be held during school winter and spring vacations. The holiday schedule for this year will be posted at the studio.
